HOUSTON -- Power outages have caused Texas Southern University to cancel classes for several days, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.
University officials said someone sabotaged the electrical system, causing 75 percent of the campus to lose power.
Crews worked throughout the night to make repairs, but Friday's classes had to be canceled. Classes were also canceled on Wednesday and Thursday. Officials said they hope Saturday's classes will go on as normal.
Hundreds of students also had to deal with a lack of power in their dormitories.
"It feels like Hurricane Ike all over again," one student said.
Students said the worst part was not having hot food. The cafeteria was closed.
Officials said power was knocked out to the western part of the campus on Tuesday when someone sabotaged a feeder box. The power was restored on Wednesday afternoon, but it went out again when it was set on fire on Wednesday, officials said.
Three people have been questioned about the damage, officials said. Investigators said whoever caused the damage was knowledgeable about electricity.
University officials said the fires caused about $300,000 worth of damage.
