HOUSTON -- A day care employee who kidnapped a toddler is now a fugitive, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.
Raeshala Morris was supposed to report to a halfway house last week, but she never showed up, police said.
A warrant has been issued for her arrest.
In April, Morris was sentenced to eight years probation after she was convicted of kidnapping 21-month-old Jakalia "K.K." Brantley from a southwest Houston day care center where Morris was employed.
Police said Morris, who they describe as mentally unstable, took the job at the day care for the sole purpose of taking a child.
Morris' family said she has a history of schizophrenia.
Anyone with information about Morris' whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.
