HOUSTON -- A Houston-area native has been chosen as one of 17 business executives and former Cabinet officials to serve on President-elect Barack Obama's economic advisory board, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Economist Sonal Shah, 40, is taking a leave of absence from her position with Google.org to help out in Washington, D.C.
She is a graduate of Alief-Hastings High School, the University of Chicago and Duke University.
Her parents live in Sugar Land in Fort Bend County.
"We are very proud and happy. It's a great time and will make a difference in communities around the world and surely to America," her father, Ramesh, said.
