Police: Woman Strangled After Night Out

POSTED: Monday, November 10, 2008
UPDATED: 5:37 pm CST November 10, 2008

A mother of five was found dead inside a vehicle in northwest Houston after she was killed following a night out with a friend, police told KPRC Local 2 Monday.

The body of Roberta Ann Alfaro, 44, of Pasadena, was discovered in the 500 block of West Sunnyside at about 5:40 a.m. Sunday. Investigators said she suffered a laceration to the forehead and was apparently strangled.

Alfaro's children ranged in age from 12 to 24.

"My mom was a beautiful person. She never held a grudge toward nobody," daughter Gloria Alfaro said.

"She was beautiful. She helped everybody. She helped us. She did everything she could for us. She was super mom," daughter Erika Alfaro said.

Police arrested Fidel Ramirez Herrera Jr., 48, who faces a possible charge of murder.

Investigators said Alfaro and Herrera went out together Saturday night and apparently got into a fight.

Police said they believe he used his belt to strangle her, then drove her next door to his sister's house and parked the car where he passed out.

Alfaro's family now wants to bring attention to domestic violence.

Alfaro's father had a message for Herrera.

"I hope you don't get out, never. Dead or alive, I hope you don't get out. That's my honest opinion. That's the way I feel, said Isidor Camacho. "If he's watching this right now, I want him to know that there's nothing but hate towards him from me."

An autopsy will determine Alfaro's exact cause of death.
