Serial Robbers Hit 5 Montrose Shops

Two men are suspected of robbing five Montrose shops, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.

It's not necessarily strange for a man to linger in the video section of Cindie's, but one guy was not just looking at videos.

Employee Czarina Katra remembers him well.

"He waited a while, like 20 or 30 minutes," said Katra. "He waited for all the customers to leave."

As seen on surveillance video, the man calmly walked up to the counter.

"He pulled out a gun, laid it down, and said, 'Pull out all the money. Give me all the money.'"

Her co-worker gave him the cash.

"After he took the money, he counted it and said, 'Get down on the ground,'" Katra said. "Then he pointed a gun at us."

Houston police said there's more surveillance video of the man -- and an accomplice -- at Pak's Food Store.

One of the men jumped the counter and got the cash with gun in hand. The other also had a gun and forced a worker onto the ground.

Sgt. Rich Nieto said he thinks these two have been involved in five armed robberies in the Montrose area.

"Their M.O. is the same in every single incident," Nieto said.

Nieto said there's no telling what they could do next.

"They're playing with fire," said Nieto. "It's just a matter of time before something goes wrong in one of these robberies."

Katra said just wants them off the streets so she can stop looking over her shoulder.

"You have so much power in your hand with that gun. I just want to know what motivated you to do that?" she said.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 in reward money. Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS.
