UPDATED: 8:50 am CDT October 11, 2008

A baby died inside a vehicle parked at a southeast Houston elementary school Friday afternoon, police told KPRC Local 2.

Investigators said the 7-month-old girl was found at Rucker Elementary School, located at 5201 Vinett.

According to the district attorney's office, the baby's grandfather was supposed to drop the girl off at a baby sitter but did not.

The grandfather is a part-time employee at the school.

The child's name was not released.

This is the fifth Houston-area child to die after being left alone in a hot vehicle this year.
