FBI Searching For Hostage-Taking Robber

By Ryan Korsgard

POSTED: Tuesday, October 7, 2008

FBI agents need help finding a robber they call the "Point Blank bandit," who has allegedly robbed three banks using the same method, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.

"He's extremely quick; extremely calm -- but his language and his body movements are extremely violent," said Brian Ritchie of the FBI. "He looks for an employee that he can intimidate and overpower not only with his size, but with his language."

He is so violent that the FBI has offered $15,000 to anyone who can identify the robber who wears a pressed shirt and big, dark sunglasses.

Investigators said he normally grabs a bank employee, puts a gun to their body and will not let them go until his black bag is full of money.

Images of the man were captured on surveillance photos during the robbery of the Capital One Bank in the 800 block of South Mason Road in Katy when it was robbed on on Oct. 1. He is also accused of robbing the Comercia Bank in the 1500 block of Eldridge Parkway on Sept. 10 and the Wells Fargo in Highland Village in Houston on Sept. 23.

"We haven't seen an individual of this nature in quite some time," Ritchie said. "His mannerisms are extremely violent. His language is extremely abusive and violent."

Investigators hope someone recognizes the man in the clear surveillance pictures.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 713-693-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
