Galveston Lifts Boil Water Notice
POSTED: Friday, October 3, 2008
GALVESTON, Texas -- The city of Galveston lifted its boil water notice for most of the island on Friday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
City officials said that the order was lifted for all areas behind the seawall, except for Channelview, Pruett, 77th, 81st streets north of Harborside Drive.
The order was also lifted for all areas west of the seawall to Jamaica Beach north of F.M. 3005, except for Sportsmans.
Officials said the city took the necessary corrective actions to restore water pressure, disinfectant levels and/or bacteriological quality.
The city is working to restore water service to areas south of F.M. 3005, but there is no timetable for when that will be completed.
Anyone with questions about the boil water notice should contact the city's municipal utilities division at 409-797-3630.
