PASADENA, Texas -- A man was severely burned in a pipeline explosion at a Pasadena facility late Tuesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The explosion happened at the Kinder Morgan facility in the 1400 block of North Witter Street at about 10:45 p.m.
A company spokesman said there was a fire in a manifold pit, the place where two pipelines interconnect.
At least one employee was injured, officials said. A medical helicopter transported the employee from the scene. He suffered burns over 90 percent of his body.
Fire crews from Harris County, Pasadena, Deer Park and Houston were working to put out the fire.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
The site handles petroleum and segregated chemicals and has more than 100 storage tanks. It ships and received pipelines for several oil companies.
