HOUSTON -- A man and his son were robbed as they browsed for a movie at a Heights Blockbuster store, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
"This is real, it isn't something you expect in a Blockbuster," said the man, who requested not to be identified. "Your guard's down. You're looking for a movie."
He said three men came in to the store Saturday, covered head to toe. They wore bandanas over their faces and had handguns. One came toward him.
The man and his son were robbed, along with the store clerk.
"'Empty your pockets this is a robbery,'" the man said the robbers said. "I'm thinking, 'I'm going to have a bullet in my head.'"
His phone apparently picked up while he was emptying his pockets. His wife was on the other end.
"I couldn't make sense of what I was hearing," his wife said. "My little boy started yelling, 'Bad guy has a gun.' My husband was yelling, 'Don't shoot. Don't shoot.'"
"All I was concerned about was my son," the man said.
The phone hung up.
The robbers got away with the man's phone and money from two customers and the register. No one was hurt.
The Houston Heights Association held a meeting to talk about crime and gangs. It was one step for people in this community.
This family said when crime invades your video store, that's going too far.
"You're not going to get rich. You will die," the victim's wife said. "It's not a way to live."
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
