HOUSTON -- A Houston man was convicted Monday in the beating death of his baby daughter, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Dennis Andrus was found guilty of capital murder. Prosecutors said he beat his 16-month-old daughter, India Andrus, after being left alone with her and his 2-year-old daughter, Aja Andrus on Dec. 4, 2006, while his wife went to work.
The medical examiner said India died from massive head trauma, including several skull fractures.
Andrus changed his story numerous times about the cause of the child's injuries, according to the district attorney's office.
Prosecutors said the jury did the right thing.
"Anyone who has a child would find the autopsy photos very difficult to view," prosecutor Murray Newman said.
After the conviction, Judge Caprice Cosper sentenced Andrus to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
