HOUSTON -- A hiker found the wreckage of a plane carrying a family of four that was en route to Texas, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The Jacomini family's four-seat private plane was discovered in Summit County, Colo., on Sunday. A hiker from Denver found the plane in the mountains at 11,400 feet on Mount Guyot, south of Breckenridge.
Rescue crews said there were no survivors.
On the Cessna 182 plane was the pilot, Tommy Jacomini, his wife, Susie, and their two young children, 8-year-old Tommy Jr. and 6-year-old Victoria.
The family was headed to its ranch in Brenham, Texas. Relatives reported the family missing Saturday morning.
Tommy Jacomini was an executive with the Sempra Energy Trading Corp. Relatives said he was an experienced pilot who was used to navigating through the mountainous areas that may have been on his route.
"He was a wonderful father, a wonderful husband, just a great guy," friend Charles Wickman said. "Him and his wife had a wonderful love affair and it's just heartbreaking that it's over. They loved their children. Their children were their life. They were a fantastic family."
Officials said that Tommy Jacomini never filed a flight plan and no distress call was received.
"It's very sad," Wickman said. "I pray that they didn't suffer."
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
