By Elizabeth Scarborough

POSTED: Saturday, August 16, 2008

A woman called 911, scared for her and her husband's lives, after two men broke into their Sugar Land home, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

The couple was watching the Olympics in bed at about 11 p.m. Sunday when the men barged into their home.

"Two people came in with guns," the woman told the 911 operator. "My husband was tied up and then beat up. I was tied up and I got one hand loose and got the phone."

Sugar Land police said the robbers demanded money and jewelry from the couple, then ransacked the house.

The husband is a jewelry dealer and works out of the home.

Woman: "He needs an ambulance."

Dispatcher: "Your husband needs an ambulance?"

Woman: "Yes. He's on the floor next to me in the bedroom."

The woman's husband was badly beaten badly.

Woman: "My husband needs to get untied. Please help."

Dispatcher: "They're on the way."

Woman: "His arms are turning blue."

Dispatcher: "OK. They're on their way."

Woman: "It's taking too long."

The couple was still tied up while the wife managed to call 911.They tried to help each other.

Woman: "Try to move towards me. Can you move towards me? He keeps saying he needs help. Hurry. But I can't get to him. I'm afraid to move. I got both my hands loose to call you."

Police say they have no leads on the robbers.

"Nothing substantial, but we're still working on it," said Officer Harris Johnston.

The thieves apparently got away with several cases of jewelry, the woman's purse and a small safe. They left the couple terrified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sugar Land police at 281-275-2501 or Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
