Vietnamese Community Comes Together To Heal

More than 50 people showed up to the first Mass at Our Lady of Lo Duc Catholic Church. They sang and prayed together. It's what the community needs to help each other through a difficult time.

"It's sad news. It hurts not just for Catholics, but the whole Vietnamese community, " said Nam Nguyen.

Nguyen is still in shock after learning of the fatal bus crash near Dallas early Friday morning.

His parents were on the same pilgrimage to Missouri. Their bus made it without a problem.

Still, Nguyen was frantic to get in touch with his parents shortly after the crash.

"The phone rang four times. Then he suddenly picked up the phone and answered. I was so relieved," said Nguyen.

Sadness has filled the congregation. And they are looking for guidance from their priest, who is also grieving.

"Every Mass, I celebrate, I pray for them and it moves my heart. It makes me cry. Even this morning, I pray and think about them and I can not stop my tears," said Father Joseph Vu.

Vu knows many of the injured victims and a few of the ones who did not make it. He said whether you know these people or not, it's difficult.

"I ask everyone to pray and keep the prayers coming, " said Vu.
