HOUSTON -- Hours after a woman was killed in what was originally thought to be a home invasion, her husband confessed to taking her life, deputies told KPRC Local 2 Friday.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said 36-year-old Damion Faulkner killed his wife, Dorothy, at their home on
16300 block of Leamington Lane near Covington Drive on Thursday morning.
Investigators said that after many hours of reviewing evidence and piecing together facts, they determined the facts of the case did not support Damion Faulkner's story. Nothing had been taken from the home and nothing indicated that robbery was the motive, detectives said.
He confessed to her slaying after detectives confronted him on Thursday, deputies said. He told them he and his wife have been having financial and relationship problems.
Deputies said Damion Faulkner also stabbed himself to try to make his made-up story stick.
Investigators said the couple's two children were home at the time of the attack.
"His two kids were asleep at the time of the attack," Sgt. R. Nelson said.
They woke up after hearing glass breaking.
Faulkner has been charged with one count of murder. He has been booked into the Harris County Jail.
