3 Burned After Pipeline Cut

Three workers injured when they cut a pipeline carrying flammable gas in Vanderbilt, Texas, Thursday were taken to Houston for help, KPRC Local 2 reported.

    Jackson County sheriff's deputies said the crew cut a line containing flammable liquid in an old on Mobile Oil Field Road near Highway 616 at about 9 a.m.

    Three of Memorial Hermann Hospital's Life Flight helicopters went to the scene to pick up the workers.

    A 54-year-old man suffered second- and third-degree burns over about half of his body. A 50-year-old man also suffered second-degree burns on his face, hands, back and chest.

    The extent of the third worker's injuries was not released.

    The workers are employed by a company based in Midland, Texas, deputies said.

    Vanderbilt is about 100 miles south-southwest of Houston and 100 miles north-northeast of Corpus Christi.
