HOUSTON -- A former employee of an organ donation group has been accused of deleting records, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
United States Attorney Don DeGabrielle said Danielle Duann, 50, illegally accessed
LifeGift Donation Center's network and deleted database records and accounting invoice files.
Duann was fired from her position as director of information technology in the fall of 2005, DeGabrielle said. She has been accused of going into the group's system and getting rid of files dealing with organ donor information and organ and tissue recovery work.
The incident cost Life Gift more than $70,000, officials said.
LifeGift coordinated newly donated organs with possible recipients in more than 200 hospitals throughout the southwestern United States.
If convicted, Duann could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
