FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas -- Three men were arrested after a four-hour search for five accused attempted carjackers at a construction site in Fort Bend County, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Stafford police said an officer was flagged down after an attempted carjacking on Dulles Avenue near Lexington Boulevard in Missouri City at about 2 a.m.
Five men tried to steal a man's truck, investigators said. The men fired several shots at the driver during the attempt, detectives said. No one was hurt.
Police chased the men in their car near a construction site at Granite Towers Sugar Creek on Dairy Ashford Road at Highway 90. The men jumped out of their car, a four-door Mercury Grand Marquis, and scattered throughout the construction site leaving the car abandoned.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the Missouri City, Stafford, and Sugar Land police departments, went to the scene. Officials blocked off each driveway entrance around the perimeter of the construction property while SWAT officers stormed the building.
"We did recover a shotgun and 9 mm pistol from the car," Sugar Land Police Officer Lt. Mark Grothaus said.
SWAT officers eventually cleared the scene and returned to the command center.
