1 Killed, 7 Hurt In Rice University Building Collapse

HOUSTON -- One person was killed and at least seven others were hurt when a building at Rice University collapsed on Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Houston firefighters said several concrete walls on the second floor of a building that was under construction on Sunset Boulevard near Rice Boulevard collapsed at about 4:15 p.m.
Four people were pulled out and taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance. The extent of the injuries was not released. Three others were treated at the scene.
Officials said the injured were construction workers. The building was an old dormitory that as under construction.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation. Crews said they were not able to immediately determine if the collapse was weather-related.
