HOUSTON -- A northwest Harris County man confessed to stabbing his mother and grandmother because of a car, deputies told KPRC Local 2 Tuesday.
Theron Owens surrendered without incident, accompanied by community activist Quanell X.
Owens told investigators that he stabbed his mother, Joyce Owens, 63, after she began screaming at him over the use of her car on Friday. He then walked into a hallway, where his grandmother, Alberta Walker, began screaming at him, asking what he had done, officials said.
Owens then stabbed Walker, cleaned up the scene, changed clothes and left in his mother's vehicle, according to deputies.
Investigators said Owens returned to the home in the 6600 block of Springfield Garden near Kuykendahl shortly after 11 p.m. and reported the stabbings. He first denied any involvement despite questioning.
The family moved to Houston after Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home three years ago.
