Detectives: Movie Theater Fire Intentional

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- A fire at a movie theater in The Woodlands was likely intentionally set, investigators told KPRC Local 2 Tuesday.Montgomery County fire marshal investigators said the fire at The Woodlands Tinseltown Movie Theatres was discovered at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.The fire originated in the men's bathroom and caused about $5,000 worth of damage, officials said.Detectives said children or teenagers most likely set it.The fire was in a "place of assembly," which makes it a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine."A fire in a crowded movie theater could have very easily had tragic results if it had grown in size and gotten out of control," arson investigator Robert Carnes said.Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 963-222-TIPS.
