Family Of 5 Found Dead At Northeast Houston Home

POSTED: Saturday, May 10, 2008
UPDATED: 9:54 am CDT May 11, 2008

Five bodies were found at a northeast Houston home on Saturday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston police said a neighbor discovered a family of five -- a father, a mother and three children -- at a home in 10100 block of Stonewood Street near Madera Road at about 3:30 p.m.

Investigators said the mother and a boy, who appeared to be about 8 years old, were dead inside an addition attached to the porch. Police said the two other children, a girl and boy who were both toddlers, were dead inside a different addition off the porch.

The causes of the deaths were not released, but Lt. Dan Harris said a .22 caliber rifle was found beside the father's body, which was on the porch.

The victims' names were not released.

Officials said the family appeared to have been dead for at least 48 hours. A wooden fence circles the house, preventing passersby from seeing the house, they said.

Neighbors said the father was an immigrant construction worker from Central America. They said they were not sure if he was working legally in the U.S.

One neighbor said the father was a good dad with his young kids.
