A man accused of using American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson's name to steal confessed to being a con, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

Adam Fuller, 27, admitted only to Local 2 that he has been a con artist for the last 10 years, the station reported.

"I seen how easy it was -- this conning," said Fuller. "I was just doing it."

He was released from prison on April 4.

"What do you think now that you're in handcuffs?" asked Local 2's Elizabeth Scarborough.

"It was wrong, I shouldn't have done it. I should have done something legitimate," said Fuller.

Houston police said he walked into a local Ford dealership claiming to be an associate of the pop star and was able to talk his way into a brand-new Ford F150.

"Luckily one of dispatchers saw a report on channel 2," said Capt. Mark Herman with Harris County Precinct 4.

He then spotted the truck in northwest Harris County Friday.

"We began looking in area and found the truck at a country club," said Herman.

They also found Fuller, who said he'd been driving the stolen truck around.

He even tried to convince deputies it was his.

"I told them my father bought in for me," said Fuller.

"Why Kelly Clarkson?" Scarborough asked.

"I studied her while I was in prison. I learned her MO and figured I could just use that," said Fuller.

He said he used Clarkson's name all the time. "I was in and out of a lot of parties and sporting events all because of what I was saying and doing," said Fuller.

So how does he think Kelly Clarkson will react?

"She's probably going to laugh and go who is this guy?" said Fuller.

Fuller is charged with felony theft. He was wanted in two other states.
