$600K In Jewels Stolen During Man's Beating

POSTED: Tuesday, April 29, 2008

A jewelry dealer lost hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of precious stones during a robbery, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said the 55-year-old dealer from New York reported being robbed and beaten at the Holiday Inn Express on the North Freeway at about 7 p.m. Monday.

The man said three or four men who wore black clothing and covered their faces attacked him.

Officials said the man told them he was pulled out of his car and had his wallet and an estimated $600,000 worth of loose precious stones stolen.

Investigators said the men got away in a late-model black Honda Accord.

Anyone with information is asked to call Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP. A reward of $1,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest or indictment.
