Firefighters said they responded to an apartment fire in southwest Houston that damaged at least 16 units Saturday afternoon.

Crews with the Houston Fire Department said they arrived and could already see flames and smoke coming from the complex at 7220 South Gessner Road and Stroud Drive.

They said after they arrived at about 2:50 p.m., the blaze escalated into a two-alarm fire. And by 2:30 p.m. the fire spread and became a three-alarm inferno.

Firefighters continued to fight the fire but said no injuries have been reported.
