Owner Agrees To Order

The owner of four pit bull terriers that mauled a woman to death agreed to allow the dogs to be euthanized, according to News2Houston Wednesday.

Dorothy Carter, Dog Maul Victim

The owner of the dogs, Bernard Lee Carter, 50, chose to not fight the order before a hearing scheduled Wednesday morning.

On July 17, the pit bulls attacked and killed Carter's wife, Dorothy Carter, 52, who had raised them from puppies.

Her body was found on the back porch of her home near Splendora.

The Harris County Medical Examiner's office ruled that Carter died from multiple sharp force injuries. The death was ruled accidental and the result of a dog attack.

Carter was severely disfigured and suffered deep wounds to her arms and legs, according to police.

Animal behaviorists said what prompted the deadly dog attack will probably never be known.

Experts theorize that what may have started as an accident or playing quickly got out of control.

The dogs weigh between 45 and 100 pounds.
