School District Issues Fundraising Scam Warning

KATY, Texas -- A school district issued a warning Thursday about a fundraising scam, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Katy Independent School District officials said a group is going door-to-door in the Cinco Ranch area soliciting contributions to allegedly send junior high school theatre students on a trip to London.

District officials said there is no trip to London planned and policy prohibits student groups from traveling abroad.

Officials encouraged residents to call a school to confirm that a solicitation for funds is legitimate before making a donation.

Anyone who has been asked to make or who has made a donation for the false trip to London is asked to call the nearest law enforcement agency.
