Police: 13-Year-Old Leads Chase In Stolen Car

POSTED: Tuesday, March 18, 2008
UPDATED: 6:54 am CDT March 18, 2008

A 13-year-old led law enforcement officers on a chase after he stole his girlfriend's parents' car, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said the car was reported stolen from a home in Willis, Texas, at about 2 a.m.

Deputies said they spotted the car a short time later, but the driver refused to stop.

The teen got on the North Freeway and went southbound into Harris County, investigators said. Harris County deputies joined the chase at about 3:45 a.m. and Houston police became involved when the chase entered the city.

Detectives said the pursuit ended on the Gulf Freeway near Monroe Street when the teen crashed into a concrete barrier and sideswiped another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The teenager was arrested and could face charges of reckless driving, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving without a license.
