HOUSTON -- A man was arrested Thursday in connection with a stolen car that had a baby inside a day earlier in southeast Houston, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Christopher Jones is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
On Wednesday, 11-month-old Xavier Williams was inside his father's car when it was stolen on Alsace Street near La Salette Street at about 6:30 a.m.
Williams' father put his son in his car seat, started the car and walked back inside the house. That's when a thief saw his opportunity, police said.
After 90 minutes, authorities from Ben Taub Hospital called to say they had Xavier, who was fine after being dropped off.
Residents spotted Williams' stolen 2000 green, Chevrolet Monte Carlo in their neighborhood and called police, who arrested Jones Thursday morning, officials said.
Investigators said Jones was released from jail two months ago on a similar charge.
