Playboy's newest models described Wednesday their experience of posing nude for the highly-anticipated "Women of Enron Issue."

Earlier this year and following the collapse of the Enron Corp., the magazine announced that it would put out an issue with some of the company's current and ex-workers.

Hundreds applied, but only 10 were picked to be in the magazine.

"It was personal for me, empowering (and) gave me a little bit of self-assuredness," said model Taria Reed.

"Me living through this whole experience had a meaning and I didn't want to let it go by," said model Shari Daughterty.

Reed and Daughterty were among some of the women who still work at Enron.

"I kept it a secret from everyone, so no one actually knows. So, I don't have any negative things from anyone," Daughterty said. "I have heard little whispers. Everyone's really excited."

Of the 10 women featured in the pictorial, six are from Houston.

But none of the four Houstonians at Playboy's press conference Wednesday morning said that they lost substantial retirement savings in Enron's collapse.

However, model Courtnie Parker said that she did lose her job along with about 4,500 co-workers back in December.

"I have several friends that also were laid off by Enron," Parker said. "And yes, it was greedy people at the top."

When asked if the photo spread might be seen by some as making light of what was a tragedy for most Enron employees, all four models said no, and that the pictorial was in fact one of the few positive things to come out of the collapse.

The "Women of Enron" issue is expected to be on newsstands on Friday, but will be available tomorrow at the Superstand, 1101 Uptown Park Blvd., in Uptown park.

The four Houston models are scheduled to be at the store to sign issues.
