A high school teacher quit her job after she was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.

Deer Park Independent School District officials said Emily Janes, 23, taught 11th-grade English at Deer Park High School's south campus.

An investigation revealed that Janes had an inappropriate relationship with a 12th-grade student, officials said.

Janes met the 18-year-old student at the school but the inappropriate portions of their relationship did not take place at the school, officials said.

Janes was charged Monday with having an improper relationship between educator and student.

She was released from the Harris County Jail after posting $30,000 bond.
