Amber Alert Canceled After Boys Found

POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2008
UPDATED: 4:51 pm CST February 11, 2008

An Amber Alert was canceled early Monday after two missing boys were found, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said Daman Moore, 2, and Preston White, 4, were found at an apartment complex in Houston at about 1 a.m.

Investigators said Daman's non-custodial mother, 37-year-old Angela Moore, took him and his cousin from a home on Beacon Light Lane in Fresno, Texas, at about noon Saturday. She did not have permission to take the children, officials said.

Moore has a history of drug use, detectives said. She has served jail time on convictions for prostitution, drug possession and driving with a suspended license.

The children were found after a driver flagged down a police officer to report their whereabouts.

"There's nothing better than eyes and ears," Sheriff Milton Wright said. "When you put out the Amber Alert, it works."

Detectives said the children were very dirty, but were not injured.

Moore was taken into custody. Officials said she has been charged with interfering with child custody. Other charges could be filed, investigators said.

Child Protective Services took custody of the children, who will either live with family members or be placed in foster care.
