UPDATED: 9:39 pm CST January 30, 2008

KPRC Local 2 hosted a Souper Bowl of Caring phone bank on Wednesday to help feed Houston's hungry.

KPRC is proud to be a sponsor of the Souper Bowl of Caring, which is an annual food drive leading up to Super Bowl Sunday.

More than $15,400 was donated over the phone Wednesday.

Food donations can also be dropped off at any H-E-B, Randalls or Kroger stores in the marked red barrels through Sunday.

"We want to raise 2 million pounds and $2 million for this Souper Bowl of Caring," said Brian Green, president of the Houston Food Bank.

Donations benefit the Houston Food Bank and the End Hunger Network.

"We are feeding literally almost half a million people a year through 350 charities, so it's a big project all year long," Green said. "This drive is a big way that we're going to get it."
