Police: Fake Officer Attacks Girl In Park

POSTED: Wednesday, January 23, 2008
UPDATED: 6:17 pm CST January 23, 2008

A sketch of a man who told a girl he was a police officer before he attacked her in a park was released Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston police said a man approached a 15-year-old girl in the 6400 block of Rustling Elms Drive on Nov. 18 at about 8:30 p.m. and told her he was a Houston police officer.

The man, who police said was not a real officer, asked the girl if she had seen some boys or men on bicycles in the area, officials said.

Investigators said the man took the girl to a wooded area in Elm Grove Village Park, forcibly removed her clothing and touched her with a pistol.

The man told the girl to go home when she started screaming, officials said.

Detectives said the attacker is white, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, 160 to 170 pounds and had several days worth of facial hair. He was last seen wearing a red windbreaker jacket, tan shorts and a black baseball cap.

"If he doesn't get identified, we don't find out who he is, then, you know, he may wait a little while and do it again," said Courtney McAllister with the Houston Police Department.

"It just worries me because I see a lot of children there in the neighborhoods," resident Heather Shove said.

Police said a similar incident was reported in 2006.

Investigators said a man claiming to be a police officer approached two 17-year-old girls in the 3700 block of Kingwood Drive at about 11:45 p.m. on July 23, 2006.

The man said he was looking for some boys or men on bicycles, officials said. The man left the area in a red Ford F-350 pickup truck without ever getting out, police said

Officials said the description of the man in both incidents was similar, but they do not know if they were related.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

"Hopefully, they can find the person who did that and put them where they need to be," resident Victor Alexander said.
