A 14-year-old remained on the run after a police chase through southwest Houston early Wednesday morning.
Around 1:45 a.m., Houston police officers spotted a pickup driving with no headlights on South Gessner and Bellaire Boulevard.
When the officer tried to pull the pickup over, the driver took off. He drove through neighborhood streets until he reached an apartment complex on Stroud Street near Augustine.
The 14-year-old jumped out of the truck and ran.
His 17-year-old passenger got out and waited for police. The truck belonged to the passenger, according to police.
He claimed he did not know the 14-yar old as going take his truck.
The driver is expected to face evading and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges when he is caught.
Police said the passenger likely will not face charges.
