HPD: Passenger Runs From Fatal Crash

POSTED: Monday, December 17, 2007

A passenger ran away from a crash that claimed a driver's life early Monday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston police said two people were inside a Ford Mustang when the driver lost control and drove into grass along the Northwest Freeway near West Tidwell Road at about 12:40 p.m.

The car hit a tree, causing major damage on the driver's side.

The driver died at the scene. His name was not released.

A witness told investigators that a passenger got out of the car and ran away immediately after the crash. Detectives have not released a description of the passenger.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
