Bicyclist Dies After Hit-And-Run

POSTED: Monday, December 17, 2007

A bicyclist died after he was injured in hit-and-run in northwest Harris County, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a vehicle hit Richard Allen Palmer as he rode his bike in the outside lane of traffic in the 10600 block of Huffmeister Road at about 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Palmer was thrown off his bike and hit his head on the sidewalk, investigators said.

The unknown type of vehicle drove away, officials said. The driver did not stop to help Palmer, detectives said.

Palmer was taken to North Cypress Medical Center and transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died on Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
