MLK Statue Unveiled In Hermann Park
POSTED: Monday, December 10, 2007
HOUSTON -- A statue to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was unveiled in Hermann Park on Sunday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The Hermann Park Conservancy and Houston City Councilwoman Ada Edwards launched the project.
Denver artist Ed Dwight was commissioned to create the bronze statue. He has designed and installed more than 35 memorials across the United States, including seven of King.
"I think it's probably one of the best Dr. Kings I've done," Dwyer said. "This is the smallest one I've ever done, but also it's probably more like him."
The statue is on display in the Houston Garden Center in Hermann Park.
