A plaque with a name was added Thursday to a cross and memorial dedicated to a girl once known only as Baby Grace.

Earlier this month, a 4-foot-tall wooden cross bearing the words "In Loving Memory of Baby Grace" was placed near the site of where a fisherman found the girl's body on Oct. 29 in west Galveston Bay.

Investigators identified Baby Grace as 2-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers after they charged her mother and stepfather on Saturday.

The plaque reads, "In loving memory of Riley Ann Sawyers; Found October 29, 2007."

Detectives, Texas EquuSearch volunteers and strangers attended Thursday's ceremony. Many wore pink wristbands in honor of Riley.

"I was honored. I was privileged. It helps -- every little bit helps closure with this for me," said Sgt. Greg Hayes with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

Pictures of Riley and an Elmo doll, Riley's favorite, were placed at the site. Lights will shine on the memorial 24 hours a day, officials said, so people will see it as they pass.

Investigators extended an invitation to Riley's Ohio relatives to come to the island.

"She loved to sing. She loved to dance -- watch movies. Her favorite was 'Cars.' She was the light of my life," said Sheryl Sawyers, Riley's paternal grandmother.

Officials said it was important to place Riley Ann's name on the plaque after her name was unknown for so long.

Four Galveston County detectives will accompany Riley's body to Ohio, where she will be buried.

Kimberly Dawn Trenor, 19, and Royce Clyde Zeigler II, 24, were arrested and charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence.

The case received international attention.
