HOUSTON -- A Fresno man was sentenced Thursday after he pleaded guilty to masterminding a Medicaid fraud scheme, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Aaron Binder, 37, will spend five years in prison after he admitted to receiving about $600,000 of government money in reimbursements for mental health counseling sessions that were never performed or falsely reported.
Binder ran Solutions To Changing Lives and Solutions 2 Changing Lives, both of which offered behavioral and mental health counseling services.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said Binder ran the scheme between March 2002 and May 2004.
Investigators said Binder's potential clients were asked for their Medicaid account numbers, which were then billed for services that never occurred. Officials said some of the counselors also submitted claims that inflated the amount oftime spent with clients.
