Hole Opens Up In Galleria Area Freeway

POSTED: Monday, November 5, 2007
UPDATED: 6:09 pm CST November 5, 2007

Traffic in the Galleria area is rarely easy to get through, but one part will be worse than normal while crews repair a large hole in the center of the road, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.

The hole is in the center lane of the exit ramp from the West Loop southbound to the Southwest Freeway.

Falling concrete forced highway officials to close off the stretch of Richmond Avenue that runs under the West Loop.

Texas Department of Transportation officials blocked off two lanes to temporarily patch the hole, which began Monday afternoon. They hoped to have the repairs finished by Monday at 10 p.m. A full repair will take place on Tuesday.

Construction cones were placed around the hole to warn drivers.

There are no reports of vehicles sustaining damage.
