HOUSTON -- A homicide investigation is under way in northeast Harris County after a woman returned home on Wednesday morning to find her husband dead on the living room floor, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the wife returned to the house on Greenloch Lane near Green Canyon Drive at 7 a.m. and found her husband.

Investigators said the front door had been kicked in and the lock was damaged. Detectives have not said if anything was taken from the home.

"What caused his demise is not being released as of yet because we're still in the middle of the investigation, but it does appear as though it is a homicide and we're working some leads now to see, to determine, who the suspect or suspects are," said Sgt. R. Nelson with the Harris County Sheriff's Department homicide division.

The victim was identified as Amado Navarro, 28. According to deputies, he had lived in the home for about a year.
