Toddler Dies From Hit-And-Run Injuries

HOUSTON -- A toddler died from injuries she suffered when a suspected drunken driver hit her and kept going, KPRC Local 2 reported.Gissela Silvestre, 23 months, died at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Tuesday.Houston police said Angel Jesus Hernandez ran over Gissela as she walked on a southwest Houston sidewalk with her parents on Sunday.Hernandez did not stop to help Gissela, officials said. He drove away and collided with an oncoming Dodge Neon, crashed into two parked cars and collided with a pickup truck, police said.Hernandez was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxicated assault with a vehicle. Police have not said if the charges would be upgraded because Gissela died.
