A decomposing body was found inside a doughnut delivery truck late Monday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Two students noticed a foul smell in the parking lot of the Texas School of Business at 12010 East Freeway at about 9 p.m.

The students approached the Square Donuts truck and discovered the body.

Shopping center security contacted Houston police, who quickly arrived along with staff from the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man's body was removed and investigators said the cause of his death was not immediately apparent.

Thai Klam, chief executive officer of Square Donuts, learned about the discovery from KPRC Local 2.

"This is the first we're hearing of it," Klam said. "I didn't receive any calls last night."

Klam reported the truck missing to Jacinto City Police on Sept. 21, one day after sending an employee out on an errand.

That employee was sent to pick up a banner from a sign business on Federal Road near Wallisville Road, but never made it to his destination.

Jacinto City police said the investigation into the driver's disappearance was still classified as an open missing person's case.

Houston homicide detectives said they will not investigate the case unless the cause of death turns out to be suspicious.

Klam said his missing employee and his wife had recently moved to Houston from the east coast.
