HOUSTON -- When Baylor University threw out young Tom DeLay in 1967 for dancing and
other hijinks, officials there surely could not have imagined that he
would pop up in about 30 years and bad mouth the school for not providing a
strict enough Christian education.
If he were just any expelled student, it would be only strangely ironic.
But the House majority whip from Sugar Land is now one of the most powerful men in Congress and people listen to him, even when they shouldn't.
DeLay recently advised members of a Pearland church to not send their children to either Baylor or Texas A&M.
Baylor because its science department is still teaching evolution in favor of creationism. A&M because of what goes on in its coed dorms.
Grads of these two schools are probably in shock over these off-base insults to their alma maters.
Channel 2 thinks parents would do well to look them up instead for sound educational advice for their children.
