HOUSTON -- A homemaker from Cypress is in the Harris County Jail charged with trying to hire someone to kill her husband.
Jeanette Kay Brown, 48, was charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder.
Harris County Assistant District Attorney Lisa Porter said Brown first approached a man doing work at her family's house several months ago and repeatedly made it clear what she was looking for.
"That she wanted to get rid of, to kill her husband and she needed help doing it," Porter said.
Investigators say that man alerted police. Prosecutors say on Monday Brown met with an undercover officer and paid him $1,000 to kill her husband with an agreement to pay $4,000 more after the killing.
Prosecutors say they do not know why Brown wanted her husband dead.
Brown is being held without bond.
