BELLAIRE, Texas -- Three teenagers were arrested at a Bellaire school after they led police on a chase early Wednesday, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Bellaire police said an officer spotted a suspicious pickup truck, ran the license plate and discovered it had recently been reported stolen.
Officers said they chased the truck to about a block away from Horn Elementary on Pine Street near Newcastle Drive, where the driver crashed the truck into a fence at about 12:45 a.m.
The teens bailed out of the truck and jumped the fence to get onto school property, investigators said.
"We had a perimeter set up real quick," officer Dan Jones said. "We knew that they were still inside the fence somewhere, so we backed off and waited for the Houston Police Department's K-9 unit to arrive. The K-9 unit searched the property and found all three suspects hiding and we did recover two pistols."
Police said the owner of the truck told them that he had left a gun in the truck.
Two of the teens are 18 years old and the other is 19 years old, officials said. They could all face charges of evading arrest and the driver could face an additional charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
