HOUSTON -- A former assistant testified Monday about the lavish perks enjoyed by fired TSU president Priscilla Slade, but paid for by the university, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Erica Vallier, who was Slade's executive assistant, testified that Slade billed TSU thousands of dollars for items such as spa and golf memberships at The Houstonian, meals at expensive restaurants and exotic trips.
Vallier also told jurors that Slade billed TSU for massages, manicures and pedicures, which were listed as team building activities for executive staff on official records. Prosecutors showed the jury a list of names that included some of Slade's personal friends.
Slade's attorney objected to the information, saying the expenses have nothing to do with the official charges against Slade.
The judge limited some items but allowed the jury to see a lot of the expenses.
Slade, 55, is on trial for one of two counts of misapplication of fiduciary property with a value over $200,000. If convicted, she could face up to life in prison.
