Houston Texan Bound During Home Invasion

POSTED: Tuesday, September 4, 2007
UPDATED: 4:48 pm CDT September 4, 2007

Deputies had no clues on Tuesday as to who duct taped and robbed a Houston Texans cornerback at his home.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said two men broke into Dunta Robinson's Sienna Plantation home at about 8 p.m. Saturday.

The men got into the home through an unlocked door, officials said.

One of the men went into the living room and ordered Robinson to the ground at gunpoint, investigators said.

Detectives said the second man searched the house while the first man tied Robinson up with duct tape.

"They tied him up, duct taped him. When the girlfriend came back home, they placed her and the two kids in the closet," Fort Bend County Sheriff Milton Wright said.

Robinson, his girlfriend, and her 2-year-old and 3-month-old daughters were not hurt.

Robinson was able to free himself once the robbers left the scene.

Wright said Robinson delayed going to the authorities at first, and went to the head of security for the Texans out of fear for his life.

"I would suspect that if somebody put a gun in your ear and tell you all of this, it would have an impression," Wright said.

The men got away with several pieces of jewelry worth several thousand dollars, officials said.

The first man was black, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts.

The second man was black, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark gray sweatpants and a gray T-shirt.

Investigators said both men wore Los Angeles Dodgers caps and red bandanas that covered their faces.

"We're going to have to have some outside help. We gathered nothing substantial off the crime scene," Wright said.

The Houston Texans selected Robinson as the 10th overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft and he was named Defensive Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Weekly magazine. He has started as right or left cornerback every game he has played in a Texans uniform as No. 23.

Robinson played college football at the University of South Carolina, where he earned defensive most valuable player honors as a senior.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
