14-year-old arrested after terroristic threat against Livingston High School, district says

LIVINGSTON, Texas – Four teenagers have been charged in the last 24 hours in connection with a series of clown sightings and threats.

A 14-year-old was arrested Tuesday in connection with threats made against a Livingston independent School District campus.

The student made the threat using a creepy clown social media account. While the threat was not credible, students and parents said they are getting fed up.

"It's not a joke, it's just not funny," Vicki Bunker, a parent of a senior at Livingston High School, said.

The apparent threat to shoot up Livingston High School was made through a Facebook conversation.

The account goes back to a "Larry Brown" with a creepy clown face as a profile picture.

In the post, the clown said, "I'm watching you. Don't go to school tomorrow, I'm going to shoot up the school."

When the boy in the conversation asked what school he goes to, he responded, "Livingston High School."

According to the district, an LISD student notified police of threat made against the school.

Livingston police investigated and arrested the 14-year-old around 1 a .m. Tuesday for terroristic threat, which is a third-degree felony, the district said.

One student told Channel 2, they've even seen people dressed as clowns near the high school. Students and parent said they are getting tired of the posts and the sightings.

"I personally feel if you make a threat, you should go to prison because you are putting lives on the line," said Michael Bunker, a senior at Livingston High School.

"I think they should tear their butt up. It makes me mad that they're not watching what their kids are doing," Vicki Bunker said.

Following the teen's arrest, the LISD superintendent sent a letter to parents and students that read:

"We have been made aware of a social media statement that is traveling around the state making threats to school districts and campuses including our own high school campus. We are currently working with the Livingston Police Department on the investigation of this criminal act, but it has not been found as credible. Please know that we take all threats seriously, the safety of our students and staff continues to be our top priority. The district in cooperation with law enforcement partners have both strategic and emergency plans in place to address these situations. We will continue to monitor the situation, and out of an abundance of caution, school will continue as usual.

"We will update you with any further information as it becomes available."

School and law enforcement officials will continue to monitor any social media posts to make sure everyone is safe, they said.

An 8th grader at Attucks Middle School in Houston is in custody for an Instagram post saying he and his clown friends were going to attack 3 school workers.

Parents said they were glad police were taking the threats seriously, even if they are intended as jokes.

"That's nothing to play with," said India Ali.
